Fragments of daydream

26/05/22

People say a memory that transforms you or lasts an impact on you a core memory. What about memories that do not exist in this realm of reality? However, when triggered by fragments of reality, turned into a completely foreign yet familiar taste.

Like when you daydream and got lost in your own space. Confused whether the event occurring inside that skull of yours is real or designed? But what if that fragment of event impacted the way you view certain things in life? Even if they are fiction, a product of your mind. A mind which stored real events or so-called memories. Would you consider that hazy daydream a core memory?

Because I do, certain thoughts in my head can impact my view of reality. The mundane everyday schedule of reality.

I was on a bus late at night, around 10 maybe. But since it was a weekday. The cavity of the bus was not packed with strangers.

The quiet atmosphere compounded by the fast-moving engine felt like a late-night ride to me.

Through the window, I saw a black car, slowly moving in frame of my view. Normally, I would not pay attention to the driver’s face. However, from the posture of the driver, I was slowly sensing a sense of familiarity. It was my father. What an interesting sight.

Separated by 2 pieces of thick glass and the speed of both vehicles. There was no way for him to notice me, let alone communicate with me. He was driving our family car, probably heading home. I, on the other hand, was seated in a public transport with strangers whom I had never seen.

Looking through the glass, I felt foreign yet familiar. He is a family member of mine. Living under the same roof as I do. However, when placed under such circumstance, I was able to view him from the perspective of a stranger. perhaps a familiar one. There was no other way to describe this feeling.

Watching your father driving as you are seated as a passenger of another vehicle.

I know that, in the end, we are going to the same destination. However, the way we arrive there can be of a million different methods. And I just so happened to be in another car right next to his.

I wonder if that is what fate means.
